John Cena’s movie schedule may hint at WWE’s plans for the 45-year-old to appear at WrestleMania 39.
Cena hasn’t wrestled for WWE since August 2021, but due to a gap in his filming schedule, that could change in the coming months.
There have long been rumors that WWE is planning a showdown between Cena and Austin Theory at WWE’s Biggest Show of the Year in April 2023.
John Cena Filming Schedule
James Gunn gave an update on filming the second season of Peacemaker, which stars John Cena.
Gunn explained, taking for Twitter as you can see below, to wish co-star Danielle Brooks a happy birthday, confirming that filming for the second season will begin in the coming months.

The showrunner later explained that filming wouldn’t begin until after the theatrical release of Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3, via WrestleTalk.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3, also directed by James Gunn, is slated for release in May 2023, giving fans a good indication of Cena’s spring 2023 filming schedule.

These updates will also have hinted that Cena, unless he has something else planned at this time, will not be busy filming by the time WrestleMania 39 arrives.
WrestleMania 39 is scheduled to take place in Los Angeles on April 1 and 2, which means filming Peacemaker wouldn’t prevent Cena from appearing at the show.
The fans, once again covered by FightTalksubsequently began to speculate that the multi-time WWE Champion could now appear at the big Premium Live event in April 2023.

As noted, Cena last wrestled on WWE TV at SummerSlam in August 2021, losing in a Universal Championship main event to Roman Reigns.
Cena would appear on WWE TV the following month, before stepping away just under a year from the promotion to focus on his acting career.
John was on the June 27 episode of Monday Night Raw this year, with WWE bringing back the wrestling legend to celebrate his illustrious 20-year career.
It should be noted that this is just speculation at this time, and there are no concrete reports that Cena is 100% locked in for WrestleMania 39.
