The group consists of businessmen and entrepreneurs interested in supporting each other as Christians, and each meeting usually includes a speaker and a Bible verse to focus on. The group meets every three Wednesdays.

Online event aims to help people work

The Greater Houston Chamber of Commerce for People with Disabilities is hosting a Virtual Food Breakfast event from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on August 19. The event is free.

The title of the event is Texas Workforce Commission-Vocational Rehabilitation. Presenter Marilyn Gilbreath will discuss services that help people with disabilities prepare for, find, retain and advance in employment.

‘Sound of Music’ hits the local scene

Class Act Productions presents “The Sound of Music” which runs until August 22. Tickets cost $ 25.

Cover bands perform at Main Street Crossing

Local cover bands Three Hot Chili Peppers and Everlong will perform from 7 p.m. on August 20 at Main Street Crossing in Tomball.

Three Hot Chili Peppers perform in traditional RHCP stage outfits circa 1983; it’s shirtless sweaty stadium rock. Everlong is a five member Foo Fighters cover band that performs all hits.

The local leader performs on stage with a band

The Magnolia Education Foundation presents a back-to-school benefit concert featuring the band Charlie Riley at 7 p.m. on August 20 at the Magnolia Event Center.

Texas country singer-songwriter Wade Bowen will perform at The Barn at Frio Grill in Cypress at 8 p.m. on August 20.

City 4 Again! will visit the Tomball Innovation Lab at Lone Star College-Tomball Community Library at 1 p.m. on August 26.

The tour includes demonstrations of 3D printers, virtual reality, robots and other technologies offered in the unique manufacturing space. City 4 Again! is a group that offers programs and events for participants aged 50 and over.

Christmas musical auditions offered to Cypress

Cy-Hope performs auditions for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever – The Musical” August 27-28 at The Foundry.

Male and female roles are available, children ages 8-13 and adults ages 30-45. Hearing hours are 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on August 27 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on August 28. Three performances that are a fundraiser for Cy-Hope are in December.
