March 29 – ROCHESTER – A show opens at the Rochester Civic Theater this weekend, and there are plenty of options for live music. However, live music is not limited to venues in major cities. This weekend, residents of Zumbrota and Kasson can find live entertainment in their communities.
“Steel Magnolias” opens at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 1. Director Kathy Keech brings Robert Harling’s spectacle of love and loss to a backdrop of gossip and unsolicited advice at a Louisiana beauty salon.
The Friday opening is followed by a show on Saturday April 2 and a matinee performance on Sunday April 3. Bring tissues for this classic tear show.

The first Friday of every month features Jeremy Jewell’s Hair of the Dog at Thesis Beer Project. To accompany this routine, Jewell and Tracy Sonnier, who also perform with Hair of the Dog, headline Whiskey Wednesdays every first Wednesday at Half Barrel. Catch them there at 8 p.m. on April 6.

In Zumbrota, Layne Yost performs a tribute concert to the timeless music of John Denver at the Zumbrota State Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.

The Fabulous Armadillos present their show “What’s Going On – Songs of the Vietnam War Era” in Kasson. The Minnesota-based Fabulous Armadillos are known for their covers and recreations of songs from an eclectic mix of genres ranging from heavy metal to 1970s country soft rock and yacht rock.
