COME FROM AWAY to return to Winnipeg at Centennial Concert Hall


Broadway Across Canada is delighted to announce the Nationwide Tour of COME FROM AWAY, a Broadway musical about the true story of the small town that has welcomed the world, will return to Winnipeg at the Centennial Concert Hall for a limited engagement of the October 25 to 30. , 2022.

COME FROM AWAY features book, music and lyrics by Olivier, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award winners and Grammy and two-time Tony Award nominees Irene Sankoff & David Hein, directed by Tony Award winner and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Christophe ashley, musical production by the winner of the Olivier Prize and two times nominated for the Tony Award Kelly devine, and musical supervision by the winner of the Olivier Prize and nominated for the Grammy Awards Ian eisendrath.

COME FROM AWAY tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town of Newfoundland that greeted them. Cultures clashed and nerves were on edge, but unease turned to trust, music flew into the night, and gratitude turned into lasting friendships.

On September 11, 2001, the world stopped. On September 12, their stories moved us all.

The Apple Original Films filmed version of the Tony & Olivier Award-winning hit musical COME FROM AWAY, produced by Hasbro’s entertainment studio eOne, will premiere on Apple TV + on Friday, September 10. COME FROM AWAY, which marks the first Broadway show to air on Apple TV +, is directed by Tony Award winner Christophe ashley, which ran the original Broadway production, and features a member-led ensemble from the Broadway show. COME FROM AWAY’s live performance was filmed in New York at Gerald Schoenfeld Theater in May 2021, where the Broadway production is staged, for an audience including 9/11 survivors and frontline workers; and employed over 200 people, including Broadway team, staff and creative teams.

COME FROM AWAY was initially co-produced in 2015 by La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle Repertory Theater, and presented in 2016 by Ford’s Theater in Washington, DC and Mirvish Productions at the Royal Alexandra Theater in Toronto, CA. COME FROM AWAY (NAMT Festival 2013) was originally developed as part of the Canadian Music Theater Project, Michel rubinoff Producer, Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario, Canada and was developed at the Goodspeed Musicals New Artist Festival in East Haddam, CT. The Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Fifth Avenue Theater in Seattle WA also provided development support.

In accordance with the mandates of the Government of Manitoba, Broadway Across Canada and the Centennial Concert Hall will require proof of vaccination for entry to all shows. Customers 12 years and older must now show proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Anyone 19 years of age or older must present a government issued photo ID with proof of vaccination.
