CHICAGO at Bass Concert Hall on sale Friday

The hit musical CHICAGO returns to Austin, as part of Texas Performing Arts Broadway’s 2022-23 season in Austin. CHICAGO will play Bass Concert Hall November 1-6, 2022. Tickets go on sale to the general public Friday, August 26, 2022 at 10 a.m.

With a legendary book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb, CHICAGO is the longest running American musical in Broadway history – and it still shows no signs of slowing down! After 25 years, CHICAGO is still the only musical with everything that makes the Broadway shimmy-shake: a universal story of fame, fortune and all that jazz, with one breathtaking song after another and a amazing dance.

There’s never been a better time to experience Broadway’s smash CHICAGO. This triumphant musical received six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, a Grammy and thousands of standing ovations. As the 25th anniversary is celebrated, you can come see why the name on everyone’s lips is still… CHICAGO.

Set in the midst of the dazzling decadence of the 1920s, CHICAGO is the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after threatening to leave her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she tricks the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, into hiring Chicago’s most skilled criminal attorney to turn her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines, which could might as well be taken from today’s tabloids. .

CHICAGO has wowed audiences from Mexico City to Moscow, from Sao Paulo to South Africa. Over the past 25 years the show has been seen in 36 different countries and by 33 million people worldwide and now it’s coming back to Austin!

Whether you’re looking for your first Broadway musical, have seen the Oscar-winning film and want to experience the show on stage, or have seen it before and want to recapture the magic, CHICAGO always delivers. !

CHICAGO is a production not to be missed. And all commentators agree. Time Magazine calls it “A Triumph,” Newsweek raves about “Smashing,” and Entertainment Weekly sums it up by calling CHICAGO “Broadway’s Most Electrifying Show.”

Come on baby! Off to CHICAGO! It’s hotter than ever.
